simona1@sfusd.edu searching > recursiveLinearSearch
prev  |  next  |  chance

Searches for a given value starting from a given starting index. Returns the index of the first target value in an array that occurs after the starting index. Uses recursive linear search (no loops!). Returns -1 if the target value is not in the array. The array will have a length >= 1.

recursiveLinearSearch([8, 3, -1, 7], 7, 0) → 3
recursiveLinearSearch([1, -1, -5, 7], 1, 1) → -1
recursiveLinearSearch([1, -3, 5, -7], 1, 0) → 0

...Save, Compile, Run (ctrl-enter)

public int recursiveLinearSearch(int [] a, int target, int startIndex){ }
